Building AI for the factory floor

I'm a Data Scientist and Industrial AI Engineer who turns messy operational data into reliable, production-grade AI systems for manufacturing.

My work sits at the intersection of machine learning and real manufacturing constraints — on-premise hardware, strict data governance, and systems that must run 24/7. At POSCO Smart Help Center, I lead and support high-impact AI PoCs across quality, safety, energy, and process automation.

I focus on the full lifecycle: framing the problem with domain experts, building and validating models for LLM/AI agents, reinforcement learning control, computer vision inspection, and anomaly detection, then shipping them through MLOps pipelines that survive contact with production — thermal-camera slab rotation control, weld image analysis, PPE detection, SDD defect classification, and conveyor/belt abnormality detection.

Freelance Industrial AI Consultant / Data Scientist

  • Support Hubiz ICT's transition from traditional MES/POP development to AI-driven smart factory solutions as an external AI specialist.
  • Translate manufacturing requirements into feasible AI tasks: defect detection, quality classification, anomaly detection, and process automation.
  • Advise on data requirements, labeling strategy, model selection, validation, and deployment planning, including MES/POP integration.

  • Reviewed and provided expert feedback on a digital transformation education guideline report for steel industry employees.
  • Advised on practical AI, data analytics, and DX training directions, drawing on POSCO Smart Help Center field experience.

  • Lead SHC technical execution as a senior company-side analyst across computer vision, optimization, anomaly detection, automatic control, and LLM/AI Agent initiatives.
